Murphy’s absence from the starting 16 on Saturday was understood to have been down to the hamstring injury he sustained at Everton last week, but the boss explained the decision to leave him out was entirely tactical.
"He was left out against Sheffield Wednesday because I wanted to put my biggest side out (physically). Dennis Rommedahl was my luxury, but the rest of the midfield were all workers," he said.
