Season-ticket holder Cole made jokes whilst serving the club as pitch-side announcer before a Carling Cup tie at the Valley against Crystal Palace in October 2004 including describing the visitors as "Crystal Pal-arse".
Sporadic clashes between rival supporters were happening outside the ground at the time. Cole was sacked, but the club’s executives have decided not to exercise their veto against this application despite some opposition.
The Addicks are the only club in the Premiership with a supporter’s representative on the board.
