Alan Curbishley said: "He's come into the side in games when perhaps we haven't been doing so well."
"He had a fantastic pre-season and was really forcing the issue and could have easily started the season.
"But he picked up an injury and since then he's been in and out and playing left-back when his best position is centre-half."
