Charlton went to Villa Park after a 2-0 defeat to Man United, desperate to get the season of the ground. Charlton were poor in finishing the load of chances they were gifted by a weak Villa defence. Kishishev having 2 of those chances, both went wide.

Controversial defender Alpay shushed the booing Villa fans with a powerful header that beat Charlton keeper Dean Kiely. Former Charlton youth product Jay Lloyd Samuel scored the undeserved second with a screaming 20 yard curling shot.

Lisbie scored a late consolation climbing above the Villa defence to head home passed stranded keeper, Thomas Sorensen.
