Djibril Cisse was guilty of some wastefulness in front of goal, as was Peter Crouch but Charlton's sturdiness at the back made sure they remained unbreached.

There was plenty more graft than craft from the visitors. The back four were in fine form and the midfield worked tirelessly while Darren Bent had a quiet evening.

Alan Curbishley: "Liverpool were dominant but our keeper played ever so well and I was delighted with the point. When they were on top in the first half they needed to score. But they didn't and that gave us a chance."

Rafa Benitez (LFC): "We created a lot of chances but the Charlton keeper played very well and he was man of the match."
