Charlton 4 - 2 Bristol Rovers

Charlton took to the Valley pitch on Tuesday night looking to continue build on the free scoring attitude displayed against MK Dons.

The Addickted did not have to wait long for the scoring to commence either, as Lloyd Sam burst into the box and played the ball to Deon Burton who, with his back to goal swivelled and shot only to his attempt to be blocked into the path of David Mooney who opened the scoring after just 3 minutes of play.

Charlton remained in control for the opening periods of the game and doubled their lead after Miguel Llera was bought down inside the penalty area and Deon Burton stepped up to convert the spot kick to put Charlton 2-0 up.

The Addicks stayed comfortably in front until a suspect penalty was awarded on 39 minutes, to which Jeff Hughes converted for the visitors.

Half Time 2 -1

The second half began with Bristol Rovers upping the pressure and Charlton finding themselves struggling on the back foot. The failure to deal with the pressure led to Chris Lines nodding in an equaliser after 55 minutes.

At this point the Addicks had two choices, crumble or fight back, thankfully for the fans; Phil Parkinson’s men chose the latter.

All of 12 minutes later they were back in front thanks to some tenacious battling from David Mooney, who didn’t give up after his header hit the bar, and managed to get the ball across the face of the goal for Nicky Bailey to pile in and force the ball into the back of the net to put Charlton in the lead again.

The Addicks sealed the victory and all three points on 85 minutes as substitute Akpo Sodje fired home his second goal in as many games after some good attacking play from Charlton.

So the final whistle blew with the Addicks running home with a 4 -2 victory and three points which sees them continue to hold a three point gap between 2nd and 3rd place in League One.

Come on you Addicks!
