Following an embarrassing performance against non league Northwich Victoria on Sunday afternoon.
Charlton make the journey to Southampton, for the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy South Quarter Final. In a fixture that will be broadcast live on Sky Sports 2 from 7.30 pm.
Phil Parkinson and Christian Dailly have both publicly spoke of their disappointment at the FA Cup performance and will be looking to lead the Addicks dressing room in regaining the form demonstrated at the start of the season.
In terms of team news for the Londoners, Izale McLeod has been suspended for 3 matches following his previously unpunished elbow against Northwich’s Michael Connor. However, following such a lacklustre display at the weekend, a number of players should be rightfully looking over their shoulders when it comes to selection.
Loan signings David Mooney and Carl Ikeme are both eligible for the game, although Darren Randolph’s overall performance on Sunday may see him be given the nod between the sticks.
The most dangerous looking players for the Addicks on Sunday were arguably the substitute three of Deon Burton, Leon McKenzie and Scott Wagstaff although with Burton still suffering from a hip injury he may be left as a substitute.
One of the main questions for selection tonight will be that of the formation, Parky is keen on 4 – 4- 1- 1, but that said, as displayed on Sunday, 4 – 4- 2 gave us a stronger attacking edge.
With all this in mind, my prediction for the starting eleven is:
GK: Darren Randolph
RB: Elliot Omozusi
CB: Sam Sodje
CB: Christian Dailly
LB: Kelly Youga
RM: Scott Wagstaff
CM: Jose Semedo
CM: Therry Racon
LM: Nicky Bailey
SS: Jonjo Shelvey
CF: Leon McKenzie
Subs: Carl Ikeme, Grant Basey, Matt Spring, Deon Burton, David Mooney
Come on you Addicks!
