Leeds United vs Charlton Athletic PREVIEW

Last updated : 03 October 2009 By Matt Fricker

Following a disappointing first defeat of the season at the hands of Colchester United on Tuesday, the Addicks travel to Elland Road, home of Leeds United, looking to release some anger that would have been built up in midweek.

To say this is a big fixture for the Addicks would be an understatement of sorts, with both teams having only dropped seven points and fifteen goals between them in the opening ten fixtures. It’s fair to say that this will be one of the biggest games of the season in league football.

Both Leeds and Charlton dropped points on Tuesday. Leeds, dropping their first points at home for some time in a humbling draw with Carlisle and Charlton finding themselves leaving Essex with their tales between their legs after defeat by Colchester.

Leeds, the only team in the league with a better start to the season than the Mighty Addicks, are currently faced with an injury crisis of sorts, as three key players are expected to be unavailable for the visit of Charlton.

Jose Semedo is still the only main injury doubt for Phil Parkinson but it’s hoped that his two game rest from the squad will see him fit enough to contend in what is definitely the toughest game of the season so far.

My prediction for the starting eleven is:

GK: Rob Elliott
LB: Kelly Youga
CB: Christian Dailly
CB: Miguel Llera
RB: Frazer Richardson
LM: Nicky Bailey (c)
CM: Jose Semedo
CM: Therry Racon
RM: Lloyd Sam
SS: Jonjo Shelvey
CF: Deon Burton

Subs: Darren Randolph, Sam Sodjie, Chris Solly, Scott Wagstaff, Matt Spring, Izale McLeod, Tamer Tuna

Come on you Addicks!!
