My Views: Charlton vs Rochdale

My Views: Charlton 4 Rochdale 1

Finally a Charlton win against a lower league opposition in the FA Cup. Every time we are drawn at home to team below us you kind of wish we had Man Utd or Chelsea instead.

Our record speaks for itself but against Rochdale they got the job done. Curbs gave Jeffers, Hughes, Johansson and Euell a chance and they all done well. Not sure what the reasons where for Euell going off at half time but I can only presume it was due to an injury.

Brain Hughes was the man of the match. Scoring twice and nearly getting a hat trick in his first start for the Addicks. I would consider dropping Kishishev for Hughes against Birmingham, but I cant see it happening.

The only disappointment of the game was The Valley crowd. It was like watching a friendly game and we were out sung by Rochdale. There were around 12,000 fans there, which is bad considering we have 22,000 season ticket holders.

Most fans I speak to tell me what they didn’t go because it was against Rochdale. I don’t know about you but I go each week to see Charlton not the opposition. Maybe Charlton should charge slightly more for a season ticket and give FA Cup and Carling Cup games included. It’s the only way you can get a crowd for this type of game. It is a shame as the tickets wasn’t that expensive and it was still a good Charlton side put out.

Lets hope this could be a year for a good cup run.
