My Views: Charlton vs Palace

My Views: Charlton 1 Crystal Palace 2

Ill try and keep this sort and sweat. We were facing our nearest rivals from South London, Crystal Palace. We go one up early on against their reserve team, they suddenly come back and go down to 10 men with 30 minutes remaining. So what do we do?

We played probably the worse 30 minutes of football I have seen in along time. We had an extra man, most teams would then pass the ball around finding the space and using the extra man. What we did was take off one of our creative midfielders in Danny Murphy and then decide to hit the ball 40 yards up the pitch hoping for Jeffers, Johansson or Lisbie to get the ball - and these guys are not the biggest strikers in the world.

It was awful to watch. It was hard to believe that we were losing to Palace with 10 men, and a weaken team. And what made it worse, was they looked better than us for most the game. Credit goes to Palace for scoing before the end of the first half becuase we sat back as usual. I noticed as soon as we scored we went to 4-5-1, and being the home team against a weaken team that is a joke.

The team were booed at the end of the game. Probably worser than the Southampton booes and that was a bigger crowd. But apart from that the crowd were awesome, I enjoyed the atmosphere in the first half and we done our best to get behind them in the second.

On a positive note, I was very impressed with Jerome Thomas. He did everything Rommendalh should do - he took on the defenders and was a threat.

Lets hope we bounce back on saturday.
