In their only pre-season match at home at the Valley, Charlton notch a win against Ipswich this time courtesy of two penalties scored by Deon Burton, Tuesday evening 28th July.

Substitute Davis Norris scored in the second half, also from a penalty for Ipswich. Lloyd Sam continued his pre-season good run of form and played a part in both penalty awards.

Burton scored on 21 minutes after Sam was upended in the box by Shane O' Connor; this was followed up in the 27th minute after a hand ball was awarded against Veliche Shumulikoski.

The hosts were put under some sustained pressure in the second half when Ipswich brought on their more experienced players including Stead and Garvan but Charlton were equal to the challenge with Elliot making some fine saves.

Players and subs for Charlton were:
Elliot; Solly (Youga 73), Basey, Llera, Dailly; Sam (Wagstaff 60), Semedo (Spring 46), Racon (Small 71), Shelvey (Fleetwood 71), Bailey; Burton (Dickson 71).
