Charlton have now lost six in a row, having tumbled down the Premiership table from second to 12th inside the last month.
Curbishley told The News of the World: "I try not to get too up or down about things but I was not happy on Wednesday night. I dished out b******ings after we lost at Blackburn and Aston Villa in the league because we were diabolical. But they didn’t need a b******ing on Wednesday, they were so down as it was. I'm not questioning the commitment of my players, but not one of them - from Dean Kiely to Danny Murphy - can knock on my door and say 'what me?' I am expecting a lot more. The good thing about football is the games come along quickly and we have another chance (on Saturday) to arrest this run."
After the 2-5 home defeat against Mancester City on Sunday, he added: "The sequence has hurt me and it’s hurt the players. I'm finding it difficult to comprehend why this has happened. I've made quite a few changes since the Blackburn league game but it's not making any difference. We've got to stop this run because if we don't we could have big problems."
Curbishley on the challenges that face a Premiership manager: "It's frustrating and I'm fed up of teams saying that's the best they've played all season when they've played us, like Blackburn and Aston Villa did. Manchester City were stronger, quicker, brighter than us and were always going to be winners. From the start of the game we were on the back foot. Darren Bent scored to get us back in the game, but how long did it last? About 35 seconds.
He told The News of the World: "Stuart Pearce has an excellent record at City and he is clearly doing a very good job. The biggest challenge is when all the players are your players, the ones you have brought in, and not your predecessor’s. Stuart has benefited from that and so has Chris Coleman at Fulham — but now those players are Coleman’s and not Jean Tigana’s and that’s a new challenge to win people over again. I've got players that will have to go in there on Saturday (against Sunderland) and hold their end up. I'm picking the players - I brought them to this club, so ultimately it's down to me."
