Perfect start for Tim Sherwood as dominant Swindon ease past Charlton

Lloyd Jones and John Goddard handed new director of football Tim Sherwood the perfect start to life at Swindon after they beat Charlton 3-0 at the County Ground.

Centre back Jones tapped in, after Morgan Fox's first-half own goal, before Goddard slammed in the clincher to take the Robins out the League One drop zone.

Former Tottenham and Aston Villa manager Sherwood was unveiled at the club on non-contract terms this week and sat in the stands admiring his new side's dominant performance.

His arrival had an effect as Swindon, with just four wins this season, had early chances through Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill, Luke Norris and Sean Murray.

In the 43rd minute their supremacy was rewarded when Fox heavily deflected Sean Murray's miscued shot past his own goalkeeper with his heel before it feebly nestled in the bottom corner.

Five minutes into the second half Liverpool loanee Jones doubled the Robins' advantage when he floated in at the back post to smash in Goddard's corner, via a Michael Doughty flick on.

After skipper Yaser Kasim squandered a one-on-one chance, Goddard wrapped up the points with a cool finish following brilliant build up from Iraqi international Kasim.
