Charlton have loaned out-of-favour striker Mathias Svensson. Mathias has been at the club since the 99/00 season.

Svensson has been plagued by injury since coming to Charlton and has had to contend with other players for a first-team slot. It has been made worse this season with the arrivals of Paolo Di Canio and Carlton Cole arriving at the club but also having to challenge Jason Euell, Shaun Bartlett, Jonatan Johansson and Kevin Lisbie but to name a few.

Derby manager George Burley was delighted with the capture of the Swedish International. Burley has also signed Brazilian striker Junior who will contend along with Svensson for the first-team start. Burley was happy with his captures "To sign a pair of quality strikers ahead of a busy weekend of football is a great boost for Derby County Football Club."
