The newly appointed Addicks skipper for the coming season sustained an ankle injury during last weekend's pre-season friendly against Athletic Club and face's a race against time to be fit for the match against The Swans at The Valley on Saturday.
"We think Mark has a good chance," manager Alan Pardew told the club's official website.
"It's 60-40 in his favour so we're very pleased with that."
