The midfielder, on loan from Chelsea, has recovered from a slight injury, which prevented him from featuring in the Addicks’ 0-0 draw against Aston Villa on Saturday.
Smertin is currently in Moscow preparing for an international friendly against Brazil. The player confirmed a club from his homeland made an approach.
"I've received an offer from a Russian club," said Smertin, who was on loan at Portsmouth last season following his £3.45 million switch from Bordeaux to the Bridge.
A deal would need to be completed by midnight tonight.
