Rob Elliot out for up to six weeks

After suffering a torn abductor muscle against Gillingham on Saturday Charlton’s star goal keeper Rob Elliot has been ruled out of first team action for up to six weeks which will see the Greenwich born shot stopper likely to miss all fixtures running up to Christmas.

Phil Parkinson has responded to the injury news by immediately bringing into the side 23 year old Wolves keeper Carl Ikeme.

The 6 foot 3 inch Nigerian shot stopper is expected to go straight into Saturday’s squad as backup for Charlton’s Darren Randolph who will likely be given his opportunity to shine between the sticks for the Addicks against Carlisle United on Saturday.

Randolph will be hoping to take full advantage of his team mates’ unfortunate injury and be able to establish a strong claim for the starting goal keeper position much like Elliot did last season when he found himself thrown into the deep end following a red card to Nicky Weaver.

 Come on you Addicks!
