Talal El Karkouri's injury time winner at The Valley gave Reed his first win since taking over the managers job and lifted the Addicks off the foot of the table.

"We played really well and this will be a tremendous boost to our confidence," Reed said after the 1-0 win.

"I was screaming for Andy Reid to take it but Karkouri stepped in and provided the moment of magic.

"These are three very valuable points and it is a massive victory for us and will give the players a big boost. It could well be the turning point of our season."

"We changed the system and it worked really well," he added.

"The players delivered the goods and showed what they are capable of if they play as a team.

"I have been preaching perseverance and we haven't panicked. More players took responsibility tonight and if we believe in ourselves I am sure we can get out of trouble.

"There is a big sense of relief that all their hard work has come to fruition.

"But there is still a lot to do. We can enjoy the moment while it lasts but there is no room for complacency."
