"Today was a big step forward in our form, especially in the second half when we had enough chances to win the game and it will have done a lot for the players' confidence," the Addicks boss said after the 1-1 draw.

"We need to make The Valley a fortress and start picking up points as quickly as we can.

"We have obviously got to improve on our away performances and it is no good playing for draws, we need to go out and win games.

"Once we get all our players back from injury and some more consistency, especially in front of goal, I'd feel we would be a threat and the players and myself firmly believe we can move up the league and get out of trouble."
