The Addicks defender was dismissed 29 minutes into the game at Highbury for pulling back Arsenal striker Robin van Persie which resulted in a penalty for the home side.
Should the appeal fail then Sankofa will miss this weekend's FA Cup 3rd round tie against Nottingham Forest.
The claim will be heard by a Disciplinary Commission tomorrow (Thursday).
