Pressure off ahead of cup tie

After making frontpage news over a future away from Charlton, on the morning of Charlton’s Premiership meeting with Middlesbrough, he was facing the wrath from some fed up supporters at The Valley if the Addicks couldn’t produce something to cheer about.

But a brace from who else, Darren Bent saved Curbishley’s bacon, as the home side took all three points, moving them back ever closer to the top half of the Premiership.

"No one would have thanked me playing entertaining football if we kept losing games," Curbishley said afterwards.
