"I've seen the replay and it definitely wasn't handball - the decision beggars belief," the new Addicks boss said after the 2-2 draw at The Valley.

"The players have taken a number of blows this season and this was another one which they didn't deserve.

"We got a bit nervous towards the end and made some rash decisions, but the players' character and commitment was first-class and they didn't deserve to lose.

"I'm not too disheartened about the performance. We played well, the fans were in great voice for us and the players responded by giving the sort of performance what we needed.

"Unfortunately we couldn't quite deliver the victory but it wasn't for the want of trying.

"I don't think it's a killer blow to our survival chances. It's a point gained and hopefully the first step forward."
