"I think the champions knew they were in a game. The first half we didn't start particularly well," said Pardew.
"We've had a proper go at the champions. The fans have shown that they trust this team. The commitment is there.
"I've been very, very pleased with the last three performances in particular. We have a squad here now that is committed.
"I'm proud of everyone involved. We had a couple of great chances. We've pushed them to the very limit, but it wasn't enough to get a point."
