Pardew Looks Towards Stoke

A Darren Ambrose goal and a retaken Andy Reid penalty put The Addicks into the hat for the second round of the Carling Cup, and Pardew was pleased with his side's performance, and in particular the performance of Marcus Bent.

Bent has had a poor start to his Charlton career since moving in January 2006 from Everton, and has admitted that this is a massive season for the club and himself personally. Pardew praised him for last night's performance.

"Marcus knows this is a big, big year for him and I thought he played well," said Pardew.

"We worked on him a bit yesterday and it paid dividends tonight. He was very unselfish on both occasions for the goals."

Pardew said about Saturday's important Championship match, "A few have thrown me some posers tonight in terms of team selection for Saturday.

"I'll review things and make my selection, bearing in mind that I think Stoke away is one of the tougher away games this year."
