Pardew: Full Throttle Needed

Pardew was speaking after Saturday's massive 3-1 defeat at home to Middlesbrough, despite taking the lead through former Boro' striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

Middlesbrough's fightback left the former West Ham manager disappointed with his players reaction towards it.

He said, "I looked at the team and thought we had to play at full throttle if we were going to win - and for 62 minutes we did that,”.

"You could sense that we lost a bit of our spirit when they scored their second and the third goal knocked the stuffing out of us - and you can't do that at this level.
