Substitute Svetoslav Todorov's 74th-minute goal gave The Addicks a deserved victory over their local rivals on Saturday which puts them in seventh place, with seven points coming from their first four games in the Championship.

Said Reid: "The manager made a point to us the previous day that I thought was very important.

"He said we've got a very good chairman at the club in Richard Murray, he's been brilliant, and little results like this in derby games we can maybe dedicate to him.

"He's a big Charlton fan and he looks after us. It's brilliant to get these results and it gives everyone - the supporters, the players, the people around the club and the people on the board - a lift."
