Darren Ambrose looked back on what has been a great season for him personally, despite being left out the side in recent games.
That doesn't compare to his spell at Newcastle United where Ambrose found it difficult to progress while the north-east club went between different managers.
He said: "When Graeme Souness came in I felt I wasn't really part of his plans so my move to Charlton was perfect for me to try and get more first team football. It's been a big season in my career because I've learned I can last a whole season now."
It could of course end with an FA Cup final appearance, after last week's semi-final draw ensured neither Charlton or Middlesbrough would face Liverpool or Chelsea in the next round.
Addicks boss Alan Curbishley said: "We're just pleased to have avoided the big two."
