Mark Hudson joins Cardiff for £1.075m plus add-ons in the event of promotion

The central defender originally joined the Addicks from Crystal Palace on a free transfer and has signed for the Championship side 12 months after moving to the Addicks from rivals Crystal Palace on a free transfer.

Cardiff Manager Dave Jones was keen to reinforce his backline after Roger Johnson moved to Birmingham City and Darren Purse went to Sheffield Wednesday on a free transfer.

Hudson, was originally signed up by Alan Pardew last season and appointed Captain making 43 appearances for the club. He scored in a 3-1 home defeat to Barnsley and a 2-2 draw at Reading.

Hudson joins seven other players to depart The Valley this summer, including Harry Arter, Darren Ambrose, Svetoslav Todorov, Nicky Weaver, Aswad Thomas and Rashid Yussuff after the expiry of their contracts.

Charlton boss Phil Parkinson said: "We wish Mark all the best. We've got to move on now and work hard to bring in a replacement."

This seems to be a sound business move by the Club in generating additional income with an extra £250,000 should Cardiff be promoted to the premier league and Addicks fans await the news of a repacement with interest.
