Charlton signed Jeffers in a £2.6million move from Arsenal on the same day Danny Murphy signed for the club from Liverpool.
The Merseysider was touted as one of the English game's brightest young talents when he joined the Gunners in 2001.
Jeffers returned to The Valley at the end of last year following a three-month loan spell at Glasgow Rangers in which he made 14 appearances including two starts in the Champions League.
