Charlton began the season in superb fashion but have suffered their traditional end-of-season slump a few months early reported The Daily Mirror today.

The classy youngster still has faith in Curbishley to rediscover Charlton's form from the start of the campaign.

Bent said: "At the start of the season we were getting the rub of the green, scoring goals and getting results.

"We're not doing anything different but it's just changed round. As long as we keep believing and keep doing the same in training then results will change again."

For Saturday’s opponents Aston Villa, the result marked winning back-to-back games for first time in 12 months.

"Results breed confidence and confidence breeds results - just look at Aston Villa recently," said the Charlton boss.

"There is no problem at all with Benty. He was always going to dry up a little bit - that's unavoidable - and playing up there on your own can be tough. I think his (injury and illness) niggles, coupled with the fact that we haven't been doing too well, has had a lot to do with it. He's looked as sharp as ever in training,” he added.
