The club had unveiled plans to expand its home initially to 30,900 with a long-term proposal for a 40,600 all-seater stadium back in November 2003.

The first stage of the development has received full backing from Greenwich Council after a few legal issues were ironed out. The two parties will sign a deal this week, although a date for when the redevelopment will get underway has yet to be confirmed.

Meanwhile, Charlton are also busy looking for a new shirt sponsor.

And the club is waiting to meet with their current shirt sponsors All:Sports and its administrators. It’s hoped the Addicks can still recoup money from the company that went into administration in September.

The club have a year left on their current four-year kit deal with the sports shop chain who are now being bought out by JD Sports.
