"That's three clean sheets in a row and I've got to be pleased with that," Dowie said after the game.
"I came here many times as a player and never left with much, so I'm happy with a point. Yet it could so easily have been all three.
"We didn't play well enough to get a win and were not good enough on the ball. We showed a lot of resilience and Scott (Carson) kept us in the game.
"Newcastle I felt passed the ball at will without cutting us in half.
"We didn't do the ugly things and gave too many cheap give-aways.
"It's nice to get a point and hopefully we can build on that with a win against Manchester City next week."
