Tigers chairman Adam Pearson has admitted that he has spoken to Dowie, who lost his job at The Valley last month, and is very keen on aquiring the former Addicks manager to replace the sacked Phil Parkinson.

"Iain is a strong candidate and definitely one we are looking at very seriously," he has said.

"We've had an awful lot of applications for the job. There are perhaps half-a-dozen people you want to arrange things with and Iain is one of those.

"We are talking to Iain as part of the process but there is a lot of people to get through.

"He has had three good years in management and maybe didn't quite have the luck he needed at Charlton.

"But he is an intelligent man, he is a good motivator, he has got good presence and he knows the division."

"We are looking at quite a few other people and trying to make sure we get the right one."
