Curbishley resigned as Addicks boss in May and was replaced by Dowie.
However, following Dowie's sacking on Monday, reports had suggested that Curbishley could be set for a quick return to the Valley.
"I left Charlton for a new challenge. Going back would not be good for me or for the club," Curbishley has told Sky Sports News.
