Colchester United manager John Ward told BBC Essex: "It will be a good game, they're a good side Charlton, they've got a very strong bench, which I think applies to a lot of teams in the top ten.
"We're up against some very strong clubs, some wealthy clubs.
"For us to compete at this moment is terrific and if we're still competing at the end of January and February then we'll have done fantastically well."
