Charlton vs Bournemouth: The Charlton Mad Preview

Last updated : 07 August 2010 By Matt Fricker

After the heartbreak of the playoffs and the horrible humiliation of having to sit through the world cup, I for one am really looking forward to today.

Most of the team that played for us last season have gone, some, like Nicky Bailey, will never be able to make up for the missed pass and missed pen that took us out of the playoffs. While others, such as Deon Burton have moved on to play football in remote leagues with Tony Adams, and as for Chris Dickson, he’s now the big man on campus, in Cyprus.

Although many players have departed, a number have also arrived, and with each signing, I personally feel more confident about the season ahead.

Today’s opponents Bournemouth, will, I imagine, provide very similar opposition to the Addicks that Wycombe Wanderers posed last season. They’ll want to prove that they’re in this league on merit and here to do business, and what better way than to scalp an ex- premiership team?

In terms of team news for the Addicks, Kelly Youga’s still out, and no one’s certain if new right back Simon Francis is fit enough to play. But apart from that everyone seems to be ready and rearing to go.

With this in mind, my prediction for today’s team is:

GK: Rob Elliot

RB: Chris Solly

CB: Christian Dailly ©

CB: Gary Doherty

LB: Johnnie Jackson

RM: Scott Wagstaff

CM: Jose Semedo

CM: Therry Racon

LM: Kyel Reid

CF: Pawel Abbott

CF: Akpo Sodje

Subs: Ross Worner, Miguel Llera, Yado Mambo Alan McCormack, Bally Smart, Lee Martin, Tamer Tuna

Come on you Addicks!!!!
