The 21 year old spent the latter half of last season on loan at Cardiff City, making eight appearances and scoring two goals and has previously had loan spells at Scunthorpe and Brentford.

The Englishmen wrote on Twitter "[I'm] Delighted to have signed for Charlton Athletic on loan

Looking forward to this new chapter.."

McAleny impressed in preseason, including a 0-4 win at Swindon that saw him assist his teammates three times before finding the back of the net himself, but found his first team opportunities limited.

McAleny is a relatively short striker, measuring at 5ft 10" but his low centre of gravity is his best asset

He is very nimble and uses his pace at great effect to duck in and out of the opposition.

He can be a massive nuisance for defenders and can be a handful to mark

His finishing is very good and can find space very well, however his decision making can sometimes hinder him.

The Whinton born forward joins the Addicks with them sitting 10th in the table after a disappointing 1-1 draw at the Valley with Rotherham on Saturday

He will return to Everton on November 7th.
