Charlton 1 NEC Nijmegan 1

Charlton finished there pre-season with a mediocre draw against Dutch outfit NEC Nijmegan. This game was a testimonial for Charlton legend Clive
Mendonca who made an appearance late on in the game, much to the delight of the Charlton faithful.

The game brought not alot of entertainment and attacks were a rare thing, but the first goal came when Shaun Bartlett, who is having a great pre-season with 6 goals in 8 friendlies, burst through the Nijmegan defence with blistering pace to face keeper Dennis Gentenaar with Shaun Bartlett coming off the better.

10 minutes before full-time NEC substitute Patrick Ax stepped up to score an un-deserved leveler past Simon Royce who was having a good game with a couple of good saves.

Four Minutes later the man himself, Clive Mendonca, made what was to be his last appearance for Charlton. He had a great chance to score as soon as he came on with Scott Parker playing a neat through ball but it was an acute angle and he dragged the ball back for Jonatan Johansson to scuff his shot.
