Jerzy Dudek claimed the Charlton player had apologised to him for diving at The Valley on Wednesday moments before referee Andre Mariner awarded the home side a spot-kick.
"I do not agree with those people who said that Bent dived to win his penalty. When I saw his face on a television replay it was clear to me that he was trying to score and didn't dive," said the Liverpool boss.
