Addicks V Hammers Premiership History Part 5

Last updated : 23 February 2007 By Paul Crisp
New Years Eve 2005 and after a great start to the season which saw The Addicks second in the table in October, they suffered a mid-season slump which dropped them back into the lower half of the table.

West Ham were back in the top flight under Alan Pardew, after a play-off final win over Preston in Cardiff, and they were having a great season which saw them in the top half of the league.

In a hotly contested match, Alan Curbishley's Charlton took the three points with goals either side of half-time from Shaun Bartlett and Darren Bent.

A season later, and Pardew and Curbishley have gone opposite ways through the Blackwall Tunnel to their home clubs, and this adds to what was an already massive game in the relegation dogfight.

Darren Bent and Luke Young return for Charlton after their long injuries and with Hermann Hreidarrson fit and Talal El Karkouri back from suspension, manager Pardew has almost a full strength squad to select from. Lets hope the lads in Red and White can bag three precious points in SE7!
