Southampton vs Charlton Athletic PREVIEW

Last updated : 09 April 2010 By Matt Fricker

With 7 games and 21 points left in this League One season every single game is vital.

For Charlton, the team seen as having the toughest run in of the promotion contenders, few games will be as tough as an away trip to Southampton.

Many are already writing the Addicks off for tomorrow’s fixture, as the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy winners have only lost twice in their last ten games (Away to Tranmere and at home to Swindon)

Yet we should remember that Charlton are unbeaten in their last four fixtures and have only lost four away games in the whole league season.

Also key to remember is that when the Addicks visited the Saints in the JPT they fielded a weaker side and only lost 2- 1 while when Alan Pardew’s side visited The Valley, a 1-1 draw was the official score line however the Addicks did have two goals chalked off during the game.

With Southampton looking to reach the playoffs and Pardew’s bravado management style, it’s expected that the Saints will attack as quickly as possible.

However, with Charlton still aiming for 2nd place, I believe that if the team get the ball on the ground and pass the ball about (as they do best) we could easily leave St Mary’s with a 3rd win in as many games.

With this in mind I believe Phil Parkinson will pick an unchanged side of:

GK: Darren Randolph

LB: Gary Borrowdale

CB: Sam Sodje

CB: Christian Dailly ©

RB: Frazer Richardson

LM: Kyel Reid

CM: Jose Semedo

CM: Therry Racon

RM: Lloyd Sam

SS/ CF: Jonjo Shelvey

CF: Nicky Forster

Subs: Tony Warner, Chris Solly, Miguel Llera, Scott Wagstaff, Nicky Bailey, Akpo Sodje, David Mooney

Come on you Addicks!!!!
