Charlton vs Hartlepool

Last updated : 14 August 2009 By Matt Fricker
Following on from a nail biting win against Wycombe Wanderers and an unfortunate defeat in the Carling Cup to Hereford Town Charlton travel North for their first away game of the League One season against Chris Turner's Hartlepool United.

Phil Parkinson will be looking to ensure that the Addicks first team can comfortably resume the confident football that they have shown in their previous league run outs. Especially with the prospect of the first London derby of the season occurring  next week in the Away trip to Leyton Orient on Tuesday before the visit of Walsall to The Valley on Saturday.

Injury news from The Valley has been positive this week, with Christian Dailly, Miguel Llera, Frazer Richardson, Lloyd Sam and Jonjo Shelvey all expected to be fit for Saturday's fixture.

With this in mind I fully expect Phil Parkinson to name the same side who started against Wycombe Wanderers last weekend.

My prediction for the starting eleven;

GK: Rob Elliott
LB: Kelly Youga
CB: Christian Dailly
CB: Miguel Llera
RB: Frazer Richardson
LM: Nicky Bailey (c)
CM: Jose Semedo
CM: Therry Racon
RM: Lloyd Sam
SS: Jonjo Shelvey
CF: Deon Burton

On the bench for Charlton I believe we will see Parky reward some of the younger players for their performances on Tuesday and, because of his repeated desire for a natural goal scorer in the squad, I feel that Chris Dickson, fresh from international duty with Ghana will have a place on the bench.

With this in mind I predict the Charlton bench will be;

Darren Randolph, Chris Solly, Grant Basey, Alex Stavrinou, Scott Wagstaff, Andy Gray, Chris Dickson

Come on you Addicks!
