Charlton Athletic vs Oldham Athletic PREVIEW

Last updated : 08 October 2009 By Matt Fricker

Following a 4 -1 victory against League Two Barnet on Tuesday night, confidence continues to be excellent in the Charlton camp, with only one league defeat in eleven fixtures, leaving the Addicked eagerly anticipating the visit of Oldham on Saturday.

Oldham currently sit in 8th place with 4 wins, 4 draws and 3 losses after eleven matches. It’s worth noting that the Latics are currently unbeaten in their last 4 matches and will arrive in SE7 on Saturday with high confidence.

In terms of team news, Deon Burton, Miguel Llera, Frazer Richardson, Lloyd Sam and Jose Semedo, all missed the visit of Barnet with injuries and although Burton and Llera are expected to be fully fit for Saturday, there are concerns as to the fitness of both Richardson and Sam.

If both players are ruled out of the Oldham game, the Valley crowd could see starts handed to academy graduates Chris Solly and Scott Wagstaff, both of whom have produced very impressive displays when called upon so far this season.

Another absentee for the Addicks on Saturday will be Sam Sodje, who is away on international duty with Nigeria.

Up front, if Deon Burton is deemed unable to play, it’s expected Izale McLeod, who has scored in his last two home appearances will lead the Charlton front line.

Knowing however that Phil Parkinson is a fan of playing his strongest team whenever possible, my prediction for Saturday’s team is:

GK: Rob Elliott
LB: Kelly Youga
CB: Miguel Llera
CB: Christian Dailly
RB: Frazer Richardson
LM: Nicky Bailey ©
CM: Jose Semedo
CM: Therry Racon
RM: Lloyd Sam
SS: Jonjo Shelvey
CF: Deon Burton

Subs: Darren Randolph, Chris Solly, Grant Basey, Matt Spring, Scott Wagstaff, Tamer Tuna, Izale McLeod

Come on you Addicks!
