Charlton Athletic vs Norwich City PREVIEW

Last updated : 18 September 2009 By Matt Fricker

Game eight of the season and Charlton make the trip North East to Norwich as they look to continue their undefeated run.

Saturday’s opponents, who were also relegated from the Championship last season, have had stormy induction to League One football by all accounts.

A 7 -1 thrashing at home from Colchester on the opening day saw Manager Bryan Gunn swiftly removed from his position, even though he took the Canaries to a 4- 0 win in the cup only three days later.

Paul Lambert, the man who led Colchester on the opening day, moved to take the vacant Norwich job and has since led the Canaries to three wins, two draws and three defeats in all competitions.

In team news Paul Lambert is expected to have to field a team without six of his first choice players on Saturday due to a injury crisis that his side are facing.

Phil Parkinson on the other hand couldn’t be asking for a better season, the Coca Cola Manager of the Month for August held a Q & A with fans at The Valley last night in an event which left those attending filled with the same confidence Parky and his players clearly have at the moment.

The last time these two sides met, Charlton were relegated and Norwich needed a win if they were to have any chance of survival and unfortunately for the Canaries it was Deon Burton who stole the show, with the Charlton front man scoring a poachers hat-trick in a game which finished 4 – 0 to the Addicks.

In terms of injury news for the Addicks, Lloyd Sam did come off against Southampton due to injury however Parky confirmed that he has recovered well meaning that the Addicks boss should be able to name an unchanged side of:
