Brighton and Hove Albion vs Charlton Athletic PREVIEW

Last updated : 30 November 2009 By Matt Fricker

Charlton make the journey south on Tuesday night to the Withdean Stadium, looking to build on a promising last three fixtures that have seen Phil Parkinson’s men score 10 and concede 4 goals.

Brighton manager Gus Poyet, on the other hand, has not seen such free flowing scoring from the Seagulls in his three league games in charge. In fact, his side have scored 4 goals and conceded 8 in fixtures against Southampton, and fellow League One high fliers Leeds United and Norwich City.

In terms of team news, Carl Ikeme has finished his loan spell with the Addicks and has since been loaned out to Sheffield United. However, the biggest news for Charlton is the expectant return of Rob Elliot from the abductor injury that has kept him out for the last 6 games.

The boost that the return of Charlton’s number one will bring joined by news that Kelly Youga is expected to play as well leaving only the right back pairing of Frazer Richardson and Chris Solly as injury troubles for Charlton.

Sam Sodje is expected to return to the starting line up following his one match ban and his brother, who was spoken of in high regard by Richard Murray on Thursday is also expected to be in the squad.

The loan transfer window closed on Thursday night to news that several Charlton players, including Dean Sinclair had been loaned out, alongside the welcome news that David Mooney has signed for a further month long loan.

With this in mind, my prediction for the starting line up is:

GK: Rob Elliot

RB: Kelly Youga

CB: Sam Sodje

CB: Christian Dailly

LB: Grant Basey

RM: Lloyd Sam

CM: Jose Semedo

CM: Nicky Bailey ©

LM: Therry Racon

CF: Deon Burton

CF: David Mooney

Subs: Darren Randolph, Elliot Omozusi, Miguel Llera, Matt Spring, Scott Wagstaff, Jonjo Shelvey, Akpo Sodje

Come on you Addicks!
